There are a lot of websites popping up where you can add questions (multiple choice, open ended, etc) within a YouTube video/uploaded video. Adding different kinds of questions within videos can bring a certain kind of interactivity. It can help measure understanding and allow students to receive instant feedback. We have a special love for EDPuzzle, because it just makes it so easy! EDPuzzle also tracks how long students watch a video and it can grade the embedded questions.
EDPuzzle also allows some video customization such as editing the length and doing voice overs.
If you make an EDPuzzle account (free) and search "Amoeba Sisters," you will find our videos! You can insert questions easily within different portions of the video. It can make our videos---and any videos---much stronger. We have an example below using one of our videos! (Note: If you actually create a class, you can make it so that the video cannot be skipped through without answering questions first. You can also take grades).
