What is a GIF?
Simply put, a GIF is a series of pictures looped together to make an animation. In science, they are powerful in animating both vocabulary and processes. Students can create them too! Where are the Amoeba Sisters GIFs? Just scroll down underneath all these questions and answers! Our GIFs are all illustrated by Petunia. Many are derived from our comics and videos. How can I, or my students, make GIFs? Do you have any tips or tutorials? Check out our link about creating GIFs here. This is one of our favorite topics and frequently something we present on . |
What are your terms of use for your GIFs?
Our GIFs can be used in your presentations or posted on your website as long as they are (1) are not being used for financial gain (i.e. they should not be within any product you make money on), (2) not edited in any form which includes translations (without permission) or removal of text, and (3) our name remains on them (it is already placed on all of them) so that we are credited. This also helps others find us! Learn more about terms of use for our creations here. How do I download Amoeba Sisters GIFs? Please read our terms of use (above) first. To download our GIFs, please right click on any of the GIFs on this page and click "save as" to save. GIFs can be pasted in PowerPoints (they will animate once in slideshow mode), inserted in Google Docs/Google Slides, LMS, teacher websites, and more! |
Do you have any ideas or suggestions on how to use Amoeba Sisters GIFs?
Consider asking students to describe the GIF in their own words while using biology vocabulary. Check out our "Describe the Biology with GIFs" slide set!
You can also ask students, "What are some weaknesses of this GIF in modeling a biological process?" or "How could this GIF be improved?"
